Penny-wise, Pound-foolishness Strikes Again

I was meeting a friend for drinks in La Jolla couple of weeks ago. I didn't plan to spend more than an hour drinking, so I decided to park on the street rather than pay $10 for parking. I'm sure you've already guessed, I overstayed by about a couple of hours.

When I got back to my car, I was relieved that I hadn't been ticketed. *SCORE!*

But... Over the weekend, I just got in the mail couple of tickets totaling $80. *OUCH*

Stupid, stupid, stupid. I hate paying for the "privilege" of parking, but I hate paying for parking tickets even more. Especially when they're 800% more expensive.

I got a ticket the other day too, but it was only for $25. I consider it a stupid tax because I was too stupid to check the signs properly. I just assumed that it was too late in the evening for meters and clearly I was wrong.

Ugh, you've reminded me of a ticket I need to pay. The front license plate fell off my car and I haven't done a thing about it, so I got a ticket. Sorry you got hit with them, CA is ruthless when it comes to parking tickets. The city I used to live in made a big chunk of their revenue solely on parking tickets!

Argh, I remember getting hit by a huge fine for parking on the street because I'd forgotten to attach my new registration tags.

I think we've all done that. I know I've rented videos and DVDs from the library, thinking it's cheaper to borrow them than buy them, and with a $2.50 per day late fee on EACH overdue video (meaning if you forget a stack of them for one week)... well, you see what I'm getting at.

Ugh, that sucks!

Is it weird that I had no idea you were in San Diego? My sister is right near La Jolla at UCSD, small world!
